Good morning my dear friends and furiends! I haven’t been around much lately and I feel like a terrible furiend, but my typist has been very busy. She even told me she has had to rethink things about my blog. You see, when we started this blog, mom was recovering from a serious illness and needed something to lighten things up. After we moved here and she started feeling better, she knew it was time to start thinking about making some money to supplement her retirement income. She learned about monetizing a blog and we tried to do that with mine but it just isn’t growing very much and I don’t have enough readers to make it happen. I have a lot of followers on social media but most of them just don’t visit my blog.
For this year’s conference, she really wants me to go with her so she had planned to work diligently on my harness training and getting me out in public. So far, the weather has put a damper on that. It has been raining almost steadily since Christmas. Mom says rain won’t make me melt but she wants my trips out to be pleasant.
On Monday, mom got out the treats and I ran through my tricks a couple of times, so far sit, high five and up. Then the harness went on. No problem. We do this often.
I missed Caturday Art yesterday so I thought I’d give you an artsy fartsy selfie today.
For the past couple of days we have been thinking about our friends in the east in the path of the big snow storm. We hope you are all safe.
Our biggest concern here when we have snow or high winds is that the power might go out. Mom says we depend so much on electricity that it is a little scary. Our heat depends on the electricity and that is the worst. You know how us kitties hate the cold! We moved here during the winter and one of the first things mom bought was a kerosene heater for emergencies.
Mom has really been trying to work with me to get me ready for the BlogPaws conference in June. I’ve been wearing my harness a lot but what I need to work on now is getting out of the house and around people. The problem is, it hasn’t stopped raining, and even snowing, in weeks. When we have one or two days without rain, mom has outdoor chores to do and then it starts raining again. Mom says we can’t complain though. After four years of drought, we need all the rain and snow we can get.
A while back, mom went to a big craft fair in Sacramento called The Harvest Festival. She went last year, too, and since we had just moved here, she got a few nice things for the house.
Well, this year, I thought maybe she’d bring something back for me. Remember when she went to her first cat show to see our pal, Summer? Do you remember what she brought back for me? A pooper scooper! Now, what kind of a gift is that for a cat? Isn’t that really just another gift for her? And what did she think made it all right? It is purple. Yes, I like purple — purple feathers, purple catnip mice, … Continue reading →
Yes, we have a tree. Echo, Ocean and I have been alive and living with mom for seven Christmases and this is our very first Christmas tree. There was a good reason though, I guess, that we didn’t have one all those years. For the first five Christmases, mom was fostering kittens, lots of kittens, and knew a tree was not a good idea with all of them around.
In the beginning, we were those foster kittens. As you may know, Echo and Ocean were mom’s first two foster kitties. I came along a few weeks later. (There were several other kittens between Ocean and me.) The three of us were all a … Continue reading →
Good morning friends, and Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it. Mom was looking through my posts to see what I did for Halloween last year and realized I did NOTHING! That’s right, nothing. But it’s not my fault. Mom was still down in Southern California finishing up some medical stuff and moving the rest of our belongings to our new home here in Northern California. Even if I could type, she had the computer with her. Of course, she did HER favorite thing last year. She created this artsy banner for my Facebook page.
Tricks for Treats
We live in too rural an area now to have trick or treaters, but we had bazillions when we lived in Southern California. … Continue reading →
Several times I have mentioned that I was going to show you photos of the spring flowers on our deck but the weather had other ideas. Everything has pretty much recovered and, in fact, mom has added several more pots, so we have lots of color out there. Some of the flowers, like the freesia, have come and gone, but others have taken their place. This is the first time in years mom has had flowers in the yard so she is pretty happy with them. She really likes looking out the kitchen window on the pretty view.
I have to admit, I like smelling them — especially my two pots of catnip!
