Caturday Art: Out of Bounds

Boy, did mom ever have fun with this week’s art project for the Caturday Art Blog Hop. She ran across a tutorial for creating an “out of bounds” effect and really liked the look. She worked on these earlier in the week in the evening, when she was exhausted from packing and needed a fun break.

Out of Bounds

This is the first one she did using the guided tutorial where everything is almost automatic with a few clicks. The main things she had to do was decide where the frame would go, the size and angle of the frame, and what part of the photo she wanted to “come out” of the frame, and then carefully select that part.

I Need a Travel Carrier

Christy Paws - I Need a Travel CarrierMom has halfheartedly been looking for a new travel carrier for me for a while now. By that, I mean that if she happened to be passing a pet store, she would go in and look. So far, she hasn’t found what she wants. She wants a soft carrier on wheels since I am a pretty big girl. I weigh 11 pounds – solid as a rock – no fat here. Well, maybe a little flab since I probably don’t get enough exercise. Mom says she hopes to change the exercise thing for all of us, including her, after we move. But I digress. Back to the carrier.

We have a hard carrier that Echo will use for our trip to … Continue reading

Hearts and Harnesses

Ocean takes over - Hearts and Harnesses

A Heartfelt Thank You

First off today, I want to apologize to my friend Dezi for failing to thank her for the award she gave me last week. I feel especially honored to receive this award since my blog is pretty new. It is really special to be recognized and acknowledged by your friends.

one-blog-lovely-award - Hearts and Harnesses

Since I am so new to the blogging world and the kitty blogosphere, I am still finding my way around and discovering all the wonderful blogs out there. So, rather than participating in nominating other blogs, I’ll just say thank you to Dezi and Lexi at Dezizworld. And, frankly, with all the commotion mom has going on right now, I can’t even think of seven things you don’t know about me. … Continue reading

Unexpected Treasure

It looks like this move thing is really happening. The house is a disaster! There are boxes everywhere and furniture is getting moved around. It is so hard to imagine that this will actually take place in just 2 1/2 weeks! How can everything possibly be done in that amount of time? I’m supervising, of course, but it seems mom is just not moving fast enough!

The cat room is completely torn apart. The cat room was a wonderful place. It is where mom kept the foster kitties when they first came to stay with us. There were some large wire crates in there for kitties that needed to have movement restricted after surgery or for any other reason that they needed to be confined. There were great cat trees and a comfortable chair. We got to go in when there were no kitties in it … Continue reading

Sunday Selfies: Watching TV

I took my Sunday selfies last night while I was watching TV with mom. She wouldn’t let me use most of them because I got too much of her in them! So, here’s what she let me use.

Sunday Selfies Watching TVMom says she sees so much great artwork with an autumn theme and colors, but since we don’t really get autumn here, I instructed her to use what you see here a lot – a palm tree! I’m looking forward to seeing more of the outdoors and different kinds of trees when we move.

This Sunday Selfie Blog Hop is hosted by The Cat on My Head. Click on the badge below to enter or to meet some other interesting felines.

Caturday Art: Sleepy Under Lamp Light

Mom wanted to try something really different this week but ran out of time with all that is going on. She worked on this project earlier in the week and decided to share it instead. It was done in Photoshop.

Sleepy under lamp lightUnder the distort filter, she used the turbulence tool under liquify to make the background wavy. As usual, she didn’t get it totally right – she can’t remember what she used to texturize the photo.

Here is the original.

Pawing it Forward: Trixie and Zuria

Ms Savvy Do over at Savannah’s Paw Tracks is having a Commentathon and Blog Hop. For every comment made on the original post, they will donate $1 to a nonprofit to be chosen at a later date from a list of recommendations by readers. For every comment made on a Paw it Forward story on another blog like this one, they will donate $.50. What an awesome way to Paw it Forward. As an ADVO-Cat for MeoowzResQ, of course, I recommended them and am sharing two of their kitties in need.

MeoowzResQ is mostly a kitten rescue, taking in orphans or whole families including the mom. Most of the other adults they take in are injured in some way. Often, a shelter will contact them directly or they will see an adult being networked through email that needs surgery or some other type of medical … Continue reading
