Sleepy Christy
When we started on this week’s Caturday Art project, we thought we would see if the topic for #52Snapshots over at The Lazy Pit Bull was something we could incorporate. Boy, did we get lucky this week. How much more purrfect could this week’s topic be: sleepy. The only thing that could make it better is if it was “sleeping.” Since that is what I’m best at, mom had no trouble finding a recent, less than perfect, photo of me doing just that.
Mom started out in Photoshop Elements with her usual multiple layers then started applying different filters to each one then different blending modes. In the final version, the bottom photo layer has the glowing edges filter applied. The next layer the accented edges filter with the blending mode set to overlay. A third layer of the photo has the middle cut out leaving just a border which she beveled. The final, and very bottom layer, is the blue border.
Mom played around with complimentary colors (opposite colors on the color wheel) for the border. She remembered that there used to be a very easy way to find the complimentary color – just a click on something – but it didn’t seem to be any where. A visit to Google gave her this quick way to do it. So, the border is the complimentary color to one of the browns in the photo.
Speaking of brown, our house doesn’t have a lot of color, which mom says makes it hard for her to have interesting subjects for Caturday Art. Can you imagine how surprised I was at that statement? How could she possibly need anything more interesting than me? Then she told me that’s not what she meant, just that some bright colors in my photos once in a while would be nice. She says she’s going to work on that.
