Since I’m a city cat who lives strictly indoors, I don’t get to see a lot of wildlife. All the wildlife I know about is from television and, of course, the internet.
Even though mom keeps the windows and patio door open most of the time, not many critters come to visit. It seems like there were a lot more birds in previous years but this year has been pretty bleak.
The one thing we have really enjoyed this year is our neighbors hummingbird feeders. We live in a condominium so our neighbor’s patio is right over our patio fence. The hummers would buzz through and around our patio on their way next door and we would lay by the patio door to watch them. If we were really lucky there might be a box by the door to sit on.
Those little things are so fast! Sometimes when mom went out on the patio, they would buzz right around her head. And territorial? These guys have cats beat hands down! Sometimes it was like a war zone out there. They would constantly chase each other, poking and body slamming, each one trying to dominate the feeders. It was so exciting!
There are hundreds of different kinds of hummingbirds but they only live in North and South America and the Caribbean. They got their name from the sound they make when they fly. We like it that they make a noise we can hear. Most birds are so quiet unless they are talking to us. Did you know they can fly backwards and upside down? Wow!
Mom’s best friend moved to Gold Country (where ever that is) a few years ago and has lots and lots of hummingbirds. Here’s a video she took the first year, even before most of them discovered her feeders.
Mom didn’t get a photo of the neighbor’s feeders before they took them down a couple of days ago. This is a picture
What kind of wildlife do you get to see?

I wish we had hummers at our house! Gram has them at her’s. We have lots of sparrows and some squirrels. Love the video!

Thanks for comin’ over and visiting us!
Wow, we’ve never seen so many hummers at one feeder all together like that! Amazing.
We posted about hummingbirds today too! They’ve been very active lately, fueling up for their long trek south. We love watching them.
Hummingbirds are fascinating to watch. I have two feeders, one in the front yard and one in back. The other wildlife around here includes the occasional raccoon. Surprisingly, not many squirrels.
We don’t see many hummers where we live in South Carolina, we have only ever seen one.
PEEEE SSSS:: You are so beautiful, sweetie! 🙂 xx Roxy & Tigerlino <3
We like those hummingbirds too! They look YUMMILICIOUS!! 😉
We are indoor cats too, so we don’t get to see a lot of wildlife either… 🙂

I think it might be interesting to live where there is lots of wildlife. Mom says I might get that chance some day. Sorry about those bees and wasps. Mom doesn’t like those things at all.
