I can’t believe it has been over a week since my last post! I just can’t seem to get my typist under control. She keeps telling me there is still so much to do at the new place and that she doesn’t have time to sit down and type for me. She keeps making lists and going shopping but hasn’t brought anything home for us since the new cat tree, unless you count the chicken for our food and more of the new litter she has decided she likes. Fortunately, we like it too.
Another thing that has taken up a lot of her time is cooking! She hasn’t done much of that in quite a long time and she seems to be having a lot of fun … Continue reading
I was planning to post about bird TV yesterday but mom got too busy to type for me. The weather TV is predicting 3″ of rain over the next five days and mom needed to do some work on horse sister Dancer’s stall.
Off she went yesterday morning to do some shopping. She said she was so glad it wasn’t the usual kind of Black Friday shopping because she hates crowds. She and Kelly and fur buddy Dieter went to Tractor Supply for mats for the stall. What a pleasant surprise she got when the stall mats were $10 off for Black Friday. When you are buying eight, that’s a big savings!
While she was at Tractor Supply she also bought some bird feeders which she had been promising us but I guess she won’t be able to put them up until the rain stops. This will surely bring in some … Continue reading
Wow, it seems like forever since I’ve written a post and been able to visit my friends. I missed you all so much and have so much to tell you!
There is still a lot for mom to do here in the new house, but the move itself is finally complete. We all came up on October 22nd with the furniture and the majority of what was getting moved. When mom was packing, she made sure she had all of our stuff! She wanted us to feel as much at home as possible, especially since she wouldn’t be here with us for 2 1/2 weeks!
Everything was loaded in a big U-Haul truck which mom drove. Echo, Ocean and I were in our carriers (mom never did have time to get me … Continue reading
Moving has created a lot of extra work for me. I’ve had to do so much supervising and inspecting.
Boxes and bags everywhere have required my attention.
What is in here and do we really need it?
OK. It passes inspection. Now I need to rest before I move on to the next one.
Mom has halfheartedly been looking for a new travel carrier for me for a while now. By that, I mean that if she happened to be passing a pet store, she would go in and look. So far, she hasn’t found what she wants. She wants a soft carrier on wheels since I am a pretty big girl. I weigh 11 pounds – solid as a rock – no fat here. Well, maybe a little flab since I probably don’t get enough exercise. Mom says she hopes to change the exercise thing for all of us, including her, after we move. But I digress. Back to the carrier.
We have a hard carrier that Echo will use for our trip … Continue reading
It looks like this move thing is really happening. The house is a disaster! There are boxes everywhere and furniture is getting moved around. It is so hard to imagine that this will actually take place in just 2 1/2 weeks! How can everything possibly be done in that amount of time? I’m supervising, of course, but it seems mom is just not moving fast enough!
The cat room is completely torn apart. The cat room was a wonderful place. It is where mom kept the foster kitties when they first came to stay with us. There were some large wire crates in there for kitties that needed to have movement restricted after surgery or for any other reason that they needed to be confined. There were great cat trees and a comfortable chair. We got to go in when there were no kitties in it … Continue reading
Mom has debated about whether or not to write this post but feels it is an important topic regardless of any backlash she might get. While working for the rescue, she has seen many occasions where people have reached out for help with their kitties because they have to move and can’t take them with them. Some of the very condemning responses went something like, “How awful those people are. I would never give up my babies. I just wouldn’t move someplace where I couldn’t take them.” Mom is so glad that she never judged those people. No matter what you think you know, you don’t know the whole story.
When mom bought her condo twelve years ago, she never dreamed she would ever have to move from it. Then came the down turn in the economy. After struggling through that, she was hit with health issues which further deteriorated … Continue reading
Mom wanted to show you what the area we are moving to in gold country looks like but she couldn’t find any photos! She has been to visit her friend, Kelly, a couple of times but could find no photographic evidence. They took several day trips (there are LOTS of wineries) and she has photos of those but nothing of the area right around the house. The following video is a little teaser taken from Kelly’s porch. Boy, do those trees look tall!
Here is a photo from a hike mom and Kelly took just a short distance from the house.
Pitiful, but that’s the best she could do! I guess we will just have … Continue reading
