All is Forgiven, Mom

Adopt Flower Puss -- A-Pal Humane SocietyToday is the day I would normally tell you about a wonderful kitty available for adoption through A-PAL Humane Society; however, when mom went to the Feed Barn yesterday to photo the kitties, there was only one there! What pawsome news, right? Well, there is a bit of a down side to the good news. The bad news is that the one lonely kitty who was there was Flower Puss. I told you about her a couple of weeks ago and she is still looking for her purrfect forever family. So, I would really appreciate it if you would click on her story and share her around with your friends on social media. She is such a sweet girl and deserves a loving, forever, indoor home.

Since I don’t have a new kitty to tell you about, I’m going to tell you what mom did to me the other night. Just about dinner time she had a pet sitting gig to go do. Now, how hard would it have been for her to feed us first? But no, she decided to feed us after. What’s worse is that, as she was gathering up her things, she gathered me up too and put me in my carrier. Before I knew it, we were out the door and getting in the car. I’ve been on a couple more rides since my trip to Petco but I haven’t been out of the car again.

I was pretty mad about the whole situation and I let mom know it, too! I sang, maybe even a little more loudly than normal, all the way there. Don’t tell mom but I was quiet while she left me alone in the car. Once she was back in the car, I began singing to her again. She had been telling me during the drive that if I stopped singing she would take me for a treat but I didn’t care. I wanted out and I wanted dinner.

We drove for just a little while and then bumped up into a driveway. This is what mom thought would make me stop singing.

KFC store at night - home of my favorite chicken
KFC box - can't wait to get at that chicken

In case you don’t know it, I LOVE chicken and KFC, which I hardly ever get, is one of my favorites. Mom went through the drive-thru and got us some of that delicious smelling stuff. She parked, got in the back seat with me and let me out of the carrier. I rubbed all over her and every inch of the back of the car, then some more on her. She was trying to get the chicken out while I kept rubbing on her. She offered me some chicken but I just kept rubbing, telling her how much I love her and how much I didn’t want to be in that carrier! I took one bite but even chicken couldn’t deter me from trying to make my point.

Since I wasn’t eating, mom put everything away and put me BACK IN THE CARRIER! Is she dumb or something? What didn’t she understand? She told me she was sorry I didn’t like my lovely carrier but that I had to be in one while the car is moving. I think she might finally be getting the idea, though, that it is THIS carrier I don’t like. It is too darn small for a kitty of my stature, even if it is the size it has to be to fit under the seat in an airplane. If I have to be in that carrier, maybe I don’t want to go on an airplane.

When we got home, mom got her a plate and put her food on it. When she sat down to eat, we all gathered around and stared. As usual, Echo, Ocean and I ended up with most of the chicken and she ate the veggies! KFC is one of the few things she feeds us while she is eating. She says it is too much chicken for her and she gets it with the intention of sharing it with us. All is forgiven, mom!

Is there a people food you get to share with your human?

  1. Chicken *swoons* we love chicken like, like, like cats who love chicken! But ham runs a close second. Or maybe bacon. Bacon is just long ham, right?

  2. *goggle-eyed look* K…F…C…?

    We’re sooooooooooo jealous!

  3. meowmeowmans says:

Christy, we think you showed great restraint to not just gobble up all that KFC in the car!

We get an occasional piece of tuna, or shrimp. Angel Moosey used to get lettuce every time Mom and Dad g=had salad. He LOVED it. 🙂

  4. Cathy Keisha says:

I’m glad you at least got the chicken for the indignities foisted upon you.. I’m gonna ax TW for some KFC. I don’t believe I’ve ever had it.

    • Christy Paws says:

I don’t know why I like it so much, CK. I only get the chicken part which is about the same as mom cooks at home that I get once in a while. There’s just something about it…

I hope Flower Puss finds her forever family soon. It took me several months, but it worked out.
And I hope your mom stops putting you in the carrier you don’t like and gives you extra KFC since you earned it.

  6. Marg says:

Well if the carrier is too small, we don’t blame you for hating it. But that chicken sounds delicious. Our Mom sometimes cooks us some chicken and we go nuts. Glad you finally got some.

  7. We’re sorry your mom didn’t listen and put you back in the carrier! At least you got some chicken out of the whole deal, though. We love chicken, too!

  8. We can’t believe you passed on the opportunity to eat that chicken the first chance you had! We’ve never had KFC before! We don’t usually get human food, but some of our favorite things to try and steal are popcorn and pizza!

  9. Summer says:

WHAT?! Your human took you to KFC and you didn’t scarf down a bunch of chicken in the car? Christy, are you crazy! You had the awesome opportunity to have your chicken without the other cats around. I would have jumped at the chance!

  10. Connie says:

Only one kitty? that is impressive!

and isn’t your mom smart to give you KFC 🙂

  11. Ellen Pilch says:

Flower Puss is beautiful. I can see why you forgave your Mom. We always have to share chicken with the kitties.

  12. How lucky of you to get some KFC. That should have made up for getting put in the carrier.

  13. Kitties Blue says:

We normally don’t get human food. Lily might lick the bottom of her Dad’s cereal bowl or get a couple of cheerios for herself, and an occasional tiny bite of fresh tuna.. Our mom loves KFC but hasn’t had any in more than ten years. We are going to ask her to get some and share with us. Sorry about your carrier, Christy. Is your mom going to bring you to BlogPaws? • Christy Paws says:

Yes, I’m planning to come to BlogPaws. Since I’m having such an ordeal, probably because of this carrier, mom says she will most likely drive. It is a long way but we’ll stop and visit friends in Orange County. She says we’ll have a real adventure together!

  14. Brian Frum says:

My goodness what an ordeal and I’m not sure one stop at KFC is enough!

  15. Deziz World says:

Dat’s pawsum Christy. Sorry you don’t like yous carrier. We don’t like those tiny things eever. But we also don’t like to fly. Da ear pawppin’ and tummies in our throats makes it downright unenjoyable. We’s all ’bout da ridin’ in da car. We’s not stuck unner sum seat and can see out and see mommy. And ifin we need to we can go to da pawdee box and get a drink. Mommy dusn’t ride all cramped up unner da seat so why shuld we? Glad you got sum KFC. We’s never had dat. We luv pepperoni pizza and ever once in a while we actually share wiff mommy and give her a whole piece, pepperoni’s and all. Have a gweat day.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Lexi

PeeEss: and we added you to da list on facebook in da cats wiff blogs fingy. Sorry you kuldn’t edit it, not sure why, but anyways, mommy sed to check and make sure we got everyfin’ right. Ifin we missed sumfin’ just let us know.

  16. I think you made a good point to your Mom. If you don’t like the carrier, maybe you shouldn’t fly? The most important thing (which she knows), is YOUR happiness!
I think her biggest “goof”, if you want to call it that, was putting you in the carrier BEFORE your dinner when you KNEW you didn’t have it yet. You were mad and you had every right to be!
I adore chicken too and Mom shares hers with me every time she makes it (which will be tonight!)
    Love, Cody

    • Christy Paws says:

Yep, she goofed alright! A last minute decision that didn’t have the best outcome. Mom says we will probably drive to BlogPaws so I can be in my bigger carrier. She’s going to see if I’m happier in it then decide.
